We are going to show you how to create, boost and manage your social media activity in the chinses world using WeChat and other research tools. This time focusing on your first impression, the WeChat profile. this Needs to be made professionally, so people will find and remember you.

A good profile has a clear photo, if it belongs to a company, I will see the company logo. From it’s name I know who this profile belong to and the ID code  is easy and catchy as well. I like it when I spot good materials on WeChat. And usually with good materials comes good profiles. We need to fill up all your profiles editing options:

Your WeChat ID is embedded in the app as a searching algorithm. When you first create your WeChat account your id will be compiled of random letters and numbers it will look like that:

since June 2020 WeChat has announced that it can be changed once in a year, before that you could only change one time in your lifetime.

This is why I recommend first to design your profile completely and only then to change your ID.

So open WeChat and start editing your profile.

Profile photo

Obviously, you need to create a good photo. This is your first impression.

Your face or your company activity should be visible as possible as the contact card photo is pretty small.

If you have a company,  you can put a clear photo of yourself and below write your company information or logo. When contact will double tap on your profile photo your image will be enlarged and they will notice this additional information.

If it’s a company, you can just put your logo as clear as possible.

You can use also funny images like many Chinese contact do, but personally I always prefer to see who is the person beyond the profile.

Add a profile photo

1. Go to me
2. Press on the profile photo image.
3. Now press on the three dots at the top right side of your screen and choose between:
4. Select from album
5. View previous profile photo
6. Save to phone
7. Cancel
8. Press Select from album and chose the photo you want.

In china many users change it to funny picture, Let's see some examples both professional and funny photos.

Change your WeChat Name

Unlike WeChat ID you change your name any time and you can even use only one letter! You should Add your name or your nickname if you have a Chinese name you should write it.

You can be creative and write anything you like, but we want to be professional so better write your real name or your company name. When scrolling in the contact lists this is the first thing you will see – contact names!

Edit WeChat name:

1. Go Me
2. Press on my profile
3. Press on your name
4. Write the name you want.

As mentioned before if you are working with Chinese costumers write your name also in Chinese it will make it easier for them you can see that in many Chinese profiles, they are doing the same and writing their name in Chinese and in English.

Tickle – This is a new fun feature.

Tickle or nudge, considered to be a new and fun feature inside WeChat, you can remind a person “I’m here and, waiting for your response” by tickling him.  a simple double tap on a profile photo when you are inside a chat. You will see his profile is vibrating, this will make a tickle action to your contact .

Everyone will get a message that this person tickled by you and also your funny nickname.

Edit tickle name:

1. Go to Me
2. My profile
3.  Tickle name, press the current name to edit it
4. Choose a nickname or something funny I choose pina colada to make it fun.

Now, next time you will be tickled, “on WeChat” everyone will see the tickle nickname you have chosen!

Qr code

This is key feature that made WeChat the king of social media.

You can pay with it, and add contact, translate and compare rates of products!

This code is unique only to you.

When you show it – your contact will be added easily.

Edit WeChat QR code design

1. go to Me

2. chose my profile

3. press on my  qr code

4. tap on the Three dots on the top right part of the screen

5. And you have those options:

Change style

Save to phone

Scan qr code

Reset qr code

Avoid pressing reset QR code if you will press it, your previous QR code will stop to exist and if you used it in your documents it won’t be relevant any more.

6. Region (please note that most of the contacts I have choose a random region and do not right their real region).
7. WhatsApp - This is not your what sup number! This is your chance to write a nice sentence that will appear below your photo when viewing your moments. Write your life moto here.

how to change your id code.

I do not know why but many WeChat users keep their WeChat Id as is. For my opinion this is a way to show your friends and co-workers that you are professional and to help you remember it in case your mobile lost and you want to retrieve your account. I want you to make sure you will not regret it make it as is professional or personal as you wish Don’t worry after changing your we chat id you will not need to update your we chat friends They will simply see your new id name. Just remember no one will be able to find you with the old we chat id, only with the current one.

According to WeChat's team, keep your account secure by avoiding using your birthday and personal information within WeChat id. Before changing your ID You will get a warning notifications serval times asking you to think about it carefully. You should begin with a letter and its possible to use 6 to 20 digits.  It’s possible to use numbers, letters, minuses and underscores, if the id is taken, carry on until you find your perfect id.

After finish write down your new WeChat ID in a place you will remember so you can use it in the future!

Plan your id name. Make sure it’s good for you combined with your name

Add some personal information as the id will appear in the searches so make it easy for your friends and associates to find you.

Edit WeChat ID Code

1. Go to Me
2. Press on settings
3. Enter Account Security
4. And press on your WeChat Id

You will get a notice -Its unique certificate for your account, it may only be modified once a year!

• Change WeChat id
• Press on Enter your WeChat password.

if you need to press forgot password make sure your forgot password settings are correct

• enter your new id!  You will get another notification, then press on save.

If it's your private account and not for professional use.

Maybe don't want strangers to add you up by finding your I.D.? and you want to limit the appears of your id in WeChat searches

Add restrictions

1. Go to me.
2. Settings – privacy – method of friending me
3. Turn off the we chat id option.
4. You can also turn off your mobile option.

Now strangers could not find you by searching you by your id or your mobile number.

If you want to visually check your final result, you can ask your friend to open your contact profile and check it out.
