Learn WeChat | Uploading a WeChat Time Capsule |Step by Step Guide

The time capsule is a new feature which allows you to share a short video or photo in a ‘story' format with your co-workers and family for a short period of time.  You can also add text and audio to the video. It is like Facebook and Instagram Story, although it is limited to only 24 hours you can edit it and make it look great.

How to create a Time Capsule?

1. Open WeChat.
2. Go to Me.
3. Tap on the black camera icon. Located on the top right screen.

You have two options:

• Take a video by holding the record video circle shape button. Please note you are unable to take a photo, only a video longer than 3 seconds.
• Enter your mobile photo gallery by pressing on the image icon Choose to upload a maximum of 9 images or a short video.

4. Press on the Done, green button in the top of your right screen. 5. If you wish to publish press on That’s It.

Uploading a unique time capsule - Making more adjustments

After choosing a time capsule images or video you can make some fun adjustments:

Add a sticker

Option 1 - Press the Smiley icon will add a sticker from your custom stickers.

Option 2 - Press the Hand icon making a victory sign. You can add your own selfie sticker, which will bring a personal touch to the time capsule.

Continue to scroll right and you will see more stickers options. Those are stickers that you have downloaded on your WeChat Chats.

Add text

By pressing the Capital T letter, you can add a text. You can also change the text color by choosing from the color’s pallet. Pressing the letter T again will add a background to your text.

Add music

By tapping the Music icon, you can search for enjoyable music to add to your videos. You can delete the music you choose by pressing on the Music Option again. Tap the Lyrics icon to add the lyrics for the chosen song. WeChat does not always have the lyrics of each song but you should give it a try.

Location

Add a location by selecting the Location icon.

You can add any imaginary place if you like.

Perhaps you will want to publish it as a moment in a different day?

You will notice the three points at the top of the display. When you press this option, you can hide this Time Capsule from your “WeChat Moment”.

How to remove your Time capsule?

1. Open WeChat.
2. Go to Me.
3. Tap on the picture beyond your profile photo. This is a backgroundLocated on the top of the screen.
4. You will watch your Time Capsule Playing.
5. Go to the three dots located in the top right side of your screen.

You have two options:

• You can choose Set as Private, with the locker sign for hiding the Time Capsule from your Moments.
• You can choose Delete to remove your Time Capsule.

How to display the Time Capsule History?

1. Open WeChat.
2. Go to Me.
3. Tap on My Posts. With the image icon.
4. At the top of your screen, you will notice two options:

-On the left there is the Moments. By pressing on it you could review all your WeChat Moments posts history.

-On the right you will find the Time Capsule category. When pressing on this option you will be able to display your time capsule history

• If you wish to delete a time capsule, choose the time capsule you wish to delete and then go to the three dots in the top right side of your screen. Then choose Delete.

WeChat Time Capsule is a great way to give your contacts a glimpse into your life. You can show their photos from your daily routine or job. Its edit options are very diverse and innovative: selfie stickers, music with lyrics and location. These tools give you an opportunity to make your unique voice heard on Chinese social media and stand out.

A personal Tip:

One of my favorite Chinese singers is G.E.M.  Add her music to your Time Capsule by searching her name in the search bar and show your Chinese colleagues that you are updated with Chinese musical trends. I have added a picture for you 🙂
