According to tradition here the first miracle of Jesus occurred. This place called Cana wedding church, according to the story, during a wedding attended by Jesus the wine ran out and Jesus changed jars of water to become into jars of wine. According to this gospel, you can read that it was explicitly declared there that where Jesus made his first miracle.
The Miracle of Turning Water into Wine
The Miracle is referenced in John (2:2-11):
"On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus Mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus mother said to him, “They have no more wine”.
“Women, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come”.
His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you”. Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.
Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet. “They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, tough the servants who had drawn the water knew.
Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you saved the best till now,”
What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first signs trough which he revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.”
Important History
The church was built in 1879. Below are relics of the 3rd-4th century. Remains of a synagogue, possibly maintaining the synagogue where the marriage took place. Back then the event was a Jewish marriage ceremony, and the addition of the “Catholic” bears the name of the Christian order which is responsible for the Church today.
The importance of the event other than being the first miracle derives from the determination of Mary’s status as a mediator between her son and humans. It is an important source for turning Mary in Christianity into a figure to whom we can pray to transmit the prayers for her son.
The church is built on the basis of a synagogue with a dedication inscribed on it. It was founded by the Franciscan Order in 1897. It has two towers symbolizing a bride and groom that unite in the marital alliance.
The crypt of the church has a large stone basin protected by glass which symbolizes one of the six pots of water used at the wedding.

My experience
The church is not large, but very impressive above all because of the archaeological remains of the large water jar of antiquity. Keep in mind that a wedding renewal ceremony can be arranged in advance and in return you receive a formal renewal document. DM us to arrange it for you.
Oh, and because it's all about wine, there are few valuable wine stores In front from the church, check it out!
